Remesh

Remesh throws away a mesh’s faces and rebuilds the same surface from even, same-sized triangles. That clears up the long, thin triangles other steps leave behind, and gives surface detail such as noise an even grid to work on. Use it after cutting shapes together, before roughing up a rock, or to bring a mesh to a triangle budget.

Mesh

The mesh to rebuild.

Mesh

A new mesh of even triangles over the same surface. UVs are dropped, so unwrap again afterwards.

Parameter What it does Default
Target by How you set the density: by the size of each triangle, or by roughly how many triangles you want. Options: Triangle size, Triangle count Triangle size
Triangle size How big each new triangle is. Smaller gives a denser mesh. Shown when Target by is Triangle size. 0.2
Triangle count Roughly how many triangles to aim for. It is a target, not an exact number; the face count shows what you got. Shown when Target by is Triangle count. 1000
Adaptivity 0 keeps every triangle the same size. Higher values use bigger triangles on flat areas and keep small ones on curves, saving triangles. 0
Iterations How many clean-up passes to run. More gives more even triangles but takes longer. 5
Crease angle Edges sharper than this angle (in degrees) stay crisp and shade hard; softer ones shade smooth. 180 treats every edge as smooth. 30
  • Subdivide: add resolution but keep the faces and UVs you already have.
  • Shape nodes: the other nodes that reshape a mesh.
