Character nodes

Character nodes make a character ready to texture and animate. They take a finished, static character mesh and give it what a game engine needs: UV seams that split it into clean body parts, a skeleton, and the skin weights that tell each part of the surface which bones to follow.

  • Character Seams: cut a character’s UV seams at its joints and down each body part, from the same markers as Auto Rig. Put it before Auto Rig.
  • Auto Rig: bind a character to a skeleton that plays Mixamo animations, from eight markers you place on it.
  • Add Animation: add a ready-made clip (Idle, Walk or Jog) to the rigged character, so the exported file already moves.
  • Hair Guides: give the hair its own joints, one chain per guide curve drawn through a clump.
  • Hair Physics: make the hair swing, baked into every clip on the rig so the exported file plays it.
