Game-Ready Mesh

Game-Ready Mesh is the whole cleanup of an AI-generated or scanned model in one node. Give it a model at its real size and it comes out repaired, cut down to your triangle budget, with fresh UVs, the original’s textures baked on, and standing on the ground. It is a Standard Subnet: it ships with Forge, and the AI mesh cleanup and Character templates are built on it.

Put it after an Import and a Transform with Fit size on, so the model has its real size first: its tolerances (the largest hole to fill, the weld distance) are in real centimetres. Find it under Subnet library in the add-node menu.

  1. Clean

Weld cracks and delete floating bits.

  2. Fill Holes

    Cap the small holes.

  3. Polyreduce

Cut it down to Target triangles.

  4. Normals

Turn every face outward and shade it smooth.

  5. Auto Unwrap

    Lay out fresh, packed UVs.

  6. Bake

Bake Clean's textures onto the new mesh.

  7. Transform

Stand the finished mesh back on the ground.

Bake reads Clean's output as its source, so deleted fragments never reach the textures.

Double-click the node to dive in and see each step, with a comment saying what it does. To skip the cleanup for a model that is already game-ready, use the node’s Skip toggle: the model passes straight through.

Parameter What it does Default
Target triangles The triangle budget. Raise it for a hero asset, lower it for background props. 10,000
Bake resolution The size of the baked textures, in pixels. 2048
Small piece size Floating pieces smaller than this share of the largest piece are deleted. Raise it if debris survives. 1 %
Max perimeter The largest hole filled, measured around its edge. Raise it to close a bigger gap. 10 cm

The other settings (the weld distance, the smoothing angle, the UV margin, Bake’s max distance) are fixed on a Standard Subnet. To change one, right-click the node and choose Unlock: the node gets its own editable copy, and you can dive in and change any step. Discard changes & lock returns it to the shipped version.
