Extrude Along Curve

Extrude Along Curve runs a cross-section along a path curve and turns it into a mesh. Use the built-in circle, square or rectangle, or wire in your own curve as the cross-section, and shape how thick it is along the way with the Thickness ramp. Use it for pipes, ropes, cables, rails, pillars and trim bands. The result already has UVs that follow the path, so it is ready to texture.

Curve path

The curve the shape travels along.

Curve profile Optional

A curve to use as the cross-section instead of the built-in shape.

Mesh

A mesh of the cross-section swept along the path.

Parameter What it does Default
Profile The built-in cross-section to sweep. Ignored when a curve is wired into the profile input. Options: Circle, Square, Rectangle Circle
Radius How big the circle is, from its center to its edge. Shown when Profile is Circle. 15 cm
Divisions How many points go around the circle. More gives a rounder tube. Shown when Profile is Circle. 16
Size How wide the square is. Shown when Profile is Square. 30 cm
Width How wide the rectangle is. Shown when Profile is Rectangle. 30 cm
Height How tall the rectangle is. A wide, flat rectangle makes a band or strip. Shown when Profile is Rectangle. 8 cm
Profile scale Scales a curve wired into the profile input. The built-in shapes ignore it. 1
Thickness How thick the sweep is from the start of the path to its end: 1 is full size, lower pinches it. Dip the middle for a pillar with a narrow waist. Flat at 1
Path divisions How many rings the path is cut into. More rings follow the Thickness ramp more smoothly. 16
End caps Closes the two ends of the tube with flat faces. Has no effect on a closed path or an open profile. On
