Ray
Ray lays a curve or mesh onto another mesh’s surface. Drape a rope path over rocky ground, wrap a vine around a post, or press a mesh flat against a wall. Lay the curve first and sweep it afterwards, with Offset set to the rope’s radius, so the rope rests on the surface instead of sinking into it.
Inputs
Section titled “Inputs” Any geometry
geometry The curve or mesh to lay onto the surface.
Mesh
target The surface to lay it onto, such as terrain or a post.
Outputs
Section titled “Outputs” Same as input
The first input, moved onto the target surface.
Parameters
Section titled “Parameters”| Parameter | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
Mode | How each point finds the surface. Nearest surface pulls it to the closest spot, wrapping around shapes; Ray direction drops it straight along Direction onto the first surface below. Options: Nearest surface, Ray direction | Nearest surface |
Direction | The direction points travel to hit the surface. 0, -1, 0 is straight down. Shown when Mode is Ray direction. | 0, -1, 0 |
Offset | How far above the surface points come to rest. Set it to a rope's radius so the rope lies on the ground instead of in it. | 0 |
